Harbor Light Wellness

Higher education

A teacher at heart, and still a student

I have spent much of my career in the classroom: teaching clinical neurology to doctors across North America, earning a PhD in England, and now teaching my neighbors in Jamestown about the brain and the body.

Research

How people make meaning of the unexpected

After years of teaching and private practice, I was accepted into St. Martin's College and Lancaster University in England, where I earned a PhD in Health Psychology/Health Science in 2011.

My research examined how people make sense of, and assign meaning to, unexpected and unintended consequences of chiropractic treatment, and what that means for clinical practice. That work grew into an integral model of health care, one in which subjective and objective views are both honored.
