On the platform and the mat
What strength and the mat taught me about life
Long before I was a doctor, I was a young competitive powerlifter. I went on to become a Drug Free Powerlifting Champion, with corporate sponsorship from Pepsi-Cola and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. I have been a martial artist ever since.

Lessons that came from the mat
Grappling teaches you quickly that force against force rarely wins. The same lesson runs through my chiropractic care: a suggestion, not a demand, and small changes, not forced, that lead to large ones.
Strength training taught me consistency and patience, and it still shapes the way Harbor Light supports strength at every age, from personal training with Miranda to my seminar Stronger Through Menopause.
I share these lessons in short talks on my YouTube channel, including a 92 video Life Principles playlist, and in my book, Anchored.
